The Canal Trip as Planned The Four Counties Ring Main Menu

J. Harry and James III have done the Four Counties Ring on all of our previous trips. It is a very nice route through a wide variety of English country side. The canals were usually well maintained and not overly travelled. The previous trips we rented our boats from Burton-on-Trent, the heart of English brewing. Burton is two days canalling from the Ring. This time we are getting our boat from Middlewich, located at the northwest corner of the Four Counties Ring.

We will be visiting numerous old favoriate canal locations on this trip. We are adding a side run to the walled city of Chester (Add link to Chester.) to allow James IV to explore a city with a history that goes back to the Roman occupation of England around 10AD. In previous trips to Chester, we have visited the city, but this will be our first time approaching by canal.
