Special weather statement

...Winter storm possible next week...
An Arctic high pressure system will lock a subfreezing airmass over the Midwest through the middle of next week. A weak storm system will move across northern Missouri and central Illinois on Sunday and Sunday night bringing an inch or two of snow in areas to the north of Interstate 70.
Another storm system is expected to move out of the southwestern United States and across the Midwest by the middle of next week. Precipitation is expected to develop over parts of Missouri and Illinois as soon as Monday afternoon as moisture is drawn northward from the Gulf of Mexico in advance of the storm. Several rounds of wintry precipitation are expected until the storm system moves east of the area on Thursday. The persistent nature of the precipitation and subfreezing surface temperatures brings the risk of significant accumulations of snow and ice next week. Mostly snow with some sleet is expected in areas along Interstate 70 with a mix of freezing rain...snow and sleet over the Eastern Ozarks.
It is important to understand that there is still some uncertainty with the strength and exact track of this system. This can cause significant differences how much snow or ice will fall at any given location. People should treat this statement as advance notice...and stay abreast of the latest forecasts and statements this weekend.
